Hunt for the hottest tech deals and get a chance to win up to $2,000 in cash at this year’s SITEX — Singapore’s annual consumer and lifestyle IT exhibition — which starts this Thursday.

One of the highlights is TechHunt, where participants form a taskforce to “save” a digital playground from a mysterious hacker. Participants will need to search for clues and answer quizzes at five experiential zones — Smart Home, AutoTech, KidsTech, VR/AR, and Audio Room — across Singapore Expo Halls 7 and 8 to win prizes.

TechHunt kicks off on Thursday and will be held again on Sunday. The grand prize is $800, but as the stakes get higher, the prize money will be raised to $1,200 on the last day.

A RACE AGAINST TIME

TechHunters, take heed: strategy is just as important as speed. So study SITEX’s floor plan carefully, then determine the optimal route through the five zones.

Once you have finalised your personal route to take through the show floor, you will have to stick to it. No deviations will be allowed. Participants who stumble across a prize without having found all the clues will not be allowed to claim it.

Within every zone, search each booth using ePrism, an augmented-reality application that you would have already installed on your phones, to scan for carefully concealed clues.

Once you have acquired the clues, head to the zone’s TechHunt Marshal to take a quiz on a tablet computer. Upon successful completion, proceed to the next zone.

Each TechHunt session has a limited capacity of 500 registrants. If you have not already registered online, you can still hotfoot to the event site to register in person. Hurry, because there are only 200 slots available for on-site registration. If you are keen, get in line at 3.30pm on Thursday and 9am on Sunday outside Hall 7 at Foyer 2 of the Singapore Expo.

The first 100 people who register for TechHunt online will receive a free TrackR Bravo item tracker, while the next 200 will receive a TrackR Pixel item tracker.

They are nifty devices to have, especially if you tend to lose things. Attach them to your phone, for instance, so when it goes missing, you can use the TrackR app to locate it via Bluetooth. Or tap them to ring your phone — even when it is on silent mode.

With the chance to win one of these revolutionary devices and fill your coffers, there’s no reason not to sign up for TechHunt. Visit www.sitex.com.sg for more information.
