Cog threads and mono threads are used for the procedure. Both are made from dissolvable suture material. Tiny barbs found on the cog threads open up under the skin and in the process, they lift sagging tissue.
Mono threads on the other hand do not have barbs. They are inserted within the skin in the form of a mesh. As collagen begins to form, the skin is tightened. The end result is a rejuvenated, youthful-looking skin.
The effect lasts for between 1 and 1.5 years. Since this procedure is less invasive than traditional facelift surgeries, there is less swelling and minimal down-time.
