Our Joyous Vesak

Thekchen Choling Singapore brings its largest Vesak festival yet to the heartlands this May, as the temple commemorates its Silver Jubilee in 2026. Our Joyous Vesak runs from 25 to 31 May at the open field beside NEX, extending last year’s three-day run with a full week of cultural celebrations, animal blessings, wellness programmes, family activities and community giving, open to all, regardless of background or belief.

Key highlights include the unveiling of Southeast Asia’s largest Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka — a four-storey hand-sewn masterpiece made of silk brocade, beads and sequins — accompanied by chanting, a gong ceremony and a dramatic light-up. The festival also features a 16-foot replica of the Bodhgaya Stupa, modelled after the UNESCO World Heritage site in India marking the Buddha’s enlightenment.

One of the most anticipated programmes is Singapore’s Largest Animal Blessing Ceremony on 26 May, where over 1,000 pets and their owners gather for blessings by Venerable Sanghas, wishing animals happiness, good health and a bright future. The experience is complemented by a Dharma Sharing talk, You Are Your Pet’s Guru, as well as ongoing pet-friendly activities throughout the week, including bathing the Buddha, offering flowers, circumambulating the stupa, and the Paw-traits booth featuring hand-drawn pet portraits by Dharma Youth volunteers.

The festival also includes community-focused initiatives such as the Heart of Giving Market in partnership with Braddell Heights Constituency, distributing essentials to lower-income families, as well as key Dharma moments across Vesak Eve and Vesak Day, including a candlelit Grand Dharma Light Circumambulation and a Vesak Day Prayer for World Peace & Harmony attended by Speaker of Parliament Mr Seah Kian Peng.

Common Room

When two young adults get the rare opportunity to share a living space of their own in Singapore, it’s all too easy to fall into mundane patterns of domestic responsibility. But within these rote routines lies the magic of profound late night conversations about one’s place in the world, spontaneous deep dives into exes and lost friends, and musings about what the future holds.

Common Room by ants chua is a celebration of the emotional, physical, and relational work of queer living. Directors Claire Wong and ants chua reveal a rare insight into the domestic spaces that allow us to be the most vulnerable, and the tender efforts we make to grapple with our past mistakes and our present selves. This intimate two-hander sees actors Genevieve Tan and Siti Sara Hamid delicately unfold the layers of identity, of queerness, and of vocation.

An exploration of loving, living and dreaming amidst the relentless rhythm and rupture of daily life, Common Room is both familiar and new; at once poetic and irreverent. Amidst the ongoing rupture and repair of friendships, despite the impossibilities and failures of language, how can we continue reaching toward each other?

5 Reasons You Should Get a Colonoscopy

Digestive health rarely receives much attention until things reach a certain breaking point, yet many conditions quietly progress even before symptoms appear. This is especially true for issues affecting the colon, where early changes can remain hidden for years. Questions such as “What are the benefits of doing a colonoscopy?” often arise only when there’s a specific concern, but this screening procedure plays a far more proactive role in maintaining long-term health.

A colonoscopy allows doctors to examine the inner lining of the large intestine to detect abnormalities that might otherwise go unnoticed. It’s widely recommended as part of routine screening, particularly from age 45 or earlier for those at higher risk. If you’ve ever wondered why many doctors emphasise this procedure, understanding its importance can shift your view on preventive care. Let’s take a look at reasons why getting a colonoscopy might be a good idea.

Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer is far from rare. According to the World Health Organisation, it’s the third most common cancer worldwide and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Those numbers are concerning, but they also stress why timely screening matters. When colorectal cancer is caught early, treatment is often far more effective, with a five-year survival rate of about 90 per cent when the cancer is still confined to the colon or rectum.

Unfortunately, many cases of colorectal cancer are detected at late stages because the early stages of the disease don’t always cause obvious symptoms. You can feel completely fine even while the cancer progresses. When you undergo a routine colonoscopy, the doctor can screen for the earliest signs of abnormalities before they become more serious and difficult to treat. This proactive check is especially valuable if you have a family history of colorectal cancer or other factors that place you at higher risk.

Removal of Precancerous Polyps

A colonoscopy doesn’t just help detect early signs of colorectal cancer. It also gives doctors the chance to act immediately to help prevent it. During the procedure, doctors can locate and remove polyps, which are small growths on the lining of the colon. While not all polyps are harmful, certain types— known as adenomatous polyps—have the potential to become cancerous over time.

Research indicates that most colorectal cancers develop from these precancerous polyps. That means removing them early can interrupt that progression entirely. This dual role of detection and prevention sets colonoscopy apart from other screening tests, such as stool-based exams, which only indicate potential issues. Think of this procedure as a proactive measure that safeguards against future illness.

Accurate Diagnosis of Other Digestive Conditions

When you hear “colonoscopy,” cancer is often the first thing that comes to mind. That association alone may be one reason many people put off or avoid the procedure. A colonoscopy, however, isn’t only about detecting and preventing cancer. It can also reveal other conditions that affect your digestive health, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and sources of unexplained bleeding.

If you’re dealing with ongoing issues like abdominal pain, changes in bathroom habits, or weight loss that you can’t explain, a colonoscopy is an essential tool for finding answers. It gives doctors a clear picture of what’s happening inside your colon, helping them reach a more accurate diagnosis and create a treatment plan that provides relief from symptoms that may otherwise disrupt your daily life. Doctors can even take tiny tissue samples during the process to conduct further tests and confirm their findings without needing additional surgery.

Peace of Mind and Confidence in Your Health

Imagine experiencing digestive issues. Maybe a lingering discomfort or subtle changes you can’t quite explain. The uncertainty alone can weigh heavily, even if nothing serious is happening. Instead of researching these symptoms online and getting more anxious in the process, getting a colonoscopy offers clarity and definitive answers.

A clear result can confirm that there are no immediate concerns and ease your worries, while early detection of any issue means you can take action right away. In fact, if your doctor finds that everything is normal and you don’t have high-risk factors, you typically won’t need to return for another screening for about 10 years. That peace of mind is invaluable. It allows you to move forward and focus on daily life without the constant concern of what might be happening unseen.

Tailored Monitoring for Higher-Risk Individuals

Not everyone follows the same screening timeline, and for good reason. Personal risk varies depending on several factors, which means the “best” approach for each individual is likely to be different. If you have a family history of colorectal cancer, a personal history of polyps, or conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, your doctor may suggest getting a colonoscopy earlier than age 45 or testing more often.

This personalised approach is less about causing alarm and more about protection. Genetic factors and existing conditions can raise your risk, so staying on a stricter surveillance plan helps you and your medical team stay ahead of changes that may develop sooner in your situation. Think of colonoscopy as preventive care designed specifically for you: precise, proactive, and built to provide the highest level of protection.

More than a routine test, a colonoscopy is a powerful investment in your long-term health. From preventing cancer to uncovering hidden conditions, it offers benefits that alternative screenings cannot easily replicate. If you’re approaching 45 or have risk factors, talking to your doctor about a colonoscopy is one of the most proactive steps you can take for your overall well-being.

Taking proactive steps for your health today is just one part of planning for the future, especially as healthcare needs evolve with age.

Is Sentosa Worth Visiting? Honest Answer for First-Time Visitors

Yes, Sentosa is worth visiting for first-time tourists and families, but it may not be ideal for budget travellers or those looking for cultural experiences.

Sentosa offers beaches, attractions, and a resort-style environment, all within easy reach from mainland Singapore. However, it can feel commercial and relatively expensive compared to other parts of the city.

If you are planning your Singapore itinerary, this guide will help you decide whether Sentosa deserves a place in your trip.

A quick look at what Sentosa feels like on a typical day.

Quick Verdict: Is Sentosa Worth It?

Type of Visitor Is Sentosa Worth It?
First-time tourists Yes
Families with kids Definitely
Couples and casual travellers Usually
Budget travellers Depends
Culture-focused travellers Probably not

Is Sentosa a Must-Visit in Singapore?

Sentosa is not a must-visit for every traveller, but it is worth considering if you want a relaxed, attraction-based day in Singapore.

If this is your first trip and you have at least 3 to 4 days in Singapore, Sentosa can be a good addition to your itinerary. But if you only have 1 or 2 days, you may prefer to focus on places like Marina Bay, Chinatown, Little India, and Gardens by the Bay.

What Is Sentosa Like?

sentosa singapore - siloso beach

Sentosa is a purpose-built island designed for leisure and entertainment. It feels more like a mini resort destination within Singapore than a local neighbourhood.

The island is clean, organised, and easy to get around. You will find beaches, resorts, attractions, restaurants, beach clubs, and family-friendly activities in one place.

That convenience is one of Sentosa’s biggest strengths, but it also means the experience can feel curated and tourist-focused.

What Are the Pros of Visiting Sentosa?

The main reason to visit Sentosa is convenience. You can enjoy beaches, attractions, scenic views, and dining without travelling across multiple parts of Singapore.

  • Beaches such as Siloso, Palawan, and Tanjong
  • Popular attractions like Universal Studios Singapore
  • Scenic views from the Singapore Cable Car
  • Family-friendly activities in one easy-to-navigate area
  • A relaxed resort-style atmosphere close to the city

For first-time visitors, families, and casual travellers, Sentosa can be an easy and enjoyable way to spend half a day or a full day.

What Are the Cons of Visiting Sentosa?

Sentosa is enjoyable, but it is not perfect for every travel style.

  • Costs can add up quickly, especially with attractions, food, and transport
  • The island can feel commercial and polished
  • It does not offer much local culture or everyday Singapore atmosphere
  • Weekends, school holidays, and peak periods can get crowded

If you are travelling on a tight budget or looking for culture, food, and local neighbourhoods, Sentosa may not be your top priority.

Is Sentosa Too Touristy?

Sentosa can feel touristy because it is designed around beaches, resorts, attractions, and entertainment. That is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as you know what to expect.

If you want local culture, hawker food, and neighbourhood atmosphere, Sentosa may feel too polished. But if you want an easy, leisurely day with beaches and activities all in one place, the touristy feel may not bother you.

Who Should Visit Sentosa?

Sentosa is best suited to travellers who want a simple, fun, and convenient leisure experience.

  • First-time visitors to Singapore
  • Families with children
  • Couples looking for a beach or sunset experience
  • Travellers who enjoy attractions and resort-style settings

If you want a break from city sightseeing, Sentosa can offer a different side of Singapore.

Who Should Skip Sentosa?

Sentosa may not be worth it if your time in Singapore is very limited or if your interests are more focused on culture and local life.

  • Budget travellers
  • Solo travellers who prefer local neighbourhoods
  • Culture-focused travellers
  • Visitors with only 1 to 2 days in Singapore

In those cases, you may get more value from places like Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Glam, Marina Bay, or the city’s hawker centres.

Here are more ideas: things to do in Singapore.

How Much Time Should You Spend in Sentosa?

For most visitors, half a day to one full day is enough for Sentosa.

A half-day visit works well if you only want to see the beach, take a walk, or visit one attraction. A full day makes more sense if you plan to visit Universal Studios Singapore, enjoy the beach, and stay for sunset.

What Is the Best Way to Experience Sentosa?

The best way to enjoy Sentosa is to avoid trying to do everything in one visit. The island has many attractions, but packing too much into the day can make the experience tiring and expensive.

  • Visit in the morning or late afternoon
  • Choose 1 to 2 main activities
  • Leave time for a relaxed beach walk
  • Stay for sunset if the weather is good

This slower approach helps you enjoy Sentosa without feeling rushed.

Is Sentosa Expensive?

Sentosa can be moderately expensive, depending on what you do. Attractions, transport, restaurants, and beach clubs can add up quickly.

However, you can still keep costs manageable by spending time at the free beach areas, walking around the island, and choosing only one paid attraction.

Final Verdict: Is Sentosa Worth Visiting?

sentosa activities

Sentosa is worth visiting if you want a convenient, resort-style experience with beaches and attractions in one place.

It is especially suitable for first-time tourists, families, and travellers seeking an easy, leisurely day in Singapore.

However, if your priority is culture, local food, or budget travel, other parts of Singapore may be more rewarding.

Sentosa is not a must-see for everyone, but it serves a clear purpose. If you treat it as a relaxed optional experience rather than a core cultural attraction, it can still be a valuable part of your Singapore trip.

Why Many People Feel Busy But Not Fulfilled in Singapore

Life in Singapore can feel like it’s always moving.

There’s work to do, places to be, and things to keep up with. Days fill up quickly, weeks pass by even faster, and before long, it feels like you’ve been constantly busy without really stopping to think about how you actually feel.

For many people, that feeling is familiar. You’re getting things done, staying productive, and keeping up with responsibilities. But at the same time, something feels missing. Being busy doesn’t always mean feeling fulfilled.

So why does this happen so often in Singapore?

The Fast-Paced Nature of Daily Life

Singapore is known for its efficiency, and that shows up in everyday life.

Work schedules are tight, commutes are structured, and routines are often built around getting things done as smoothly as possible. On the surface, this makes life convenient. But it also means there’s very little space to pause.

When most of your day is planned around tasks and responsibilities, it’s easy to go into autopilot mode. You move from one thing to the next without really checking in with yourself.

Over time, that constant movement can make life feel repetitive, even if you’re technically doing a lot.

Success Is Often Defined Narrowly

In Singapore, success is often measured in clear, visible ways. Career progression, salary, job titles, and financial stability tend to take centre stage.

These are important, and they provide security. But they don’t always bring a sense of fulfilment on their own.

It’s possible to reach certain milestones and still feel like something is lacking. That’s because fulfilment is more personal. It doesn’t always follow the same path as external achievements.

When success is defined too narrowly, it can create pressure to keep chasing the next goal, without really asking if it’s what you truly want.

The Cost of Convenience

One of the best things about Singapore is how convenient everything is.

Food delivery, transport, services, and shopping are all easily accessible. You can get almost anything done quickly, with minimal effort.

But there’s a subtle trade-off.

When everything becomes efficient, daily life can start to feel routine. Small moments that might have felt more engaging, like exploring a new place or taking time to do things by hand, are replaced by faster alternatives.

Convenience saves time, but it doesn’t always create meaningful experiences.

Lack of Time for Personal Interests

sitting relax in a cafe

When work and responsibilities take up most of the day, personal interests often get pushed aside.

Hobbies, creative activities, and things you genuinely enjoy tend to fall into the “later” category. It becomes something you’ll get to when things slow down.

The problem is, things rarely slow down on their own.

Without time set aside for personal interests, life can start to feel as if it revolves solely around obligations. Even small activities that bring joy can make a difference, but they need to be prioritised.

Social Life That Feels Surface-Level

Singapore has a strong social scene, but busy schedules can make it harder to maintain deeper connections.

Catch-ups are often squeezed into tight time slots. Conversations can feel rushed. Sometimes, interactions become more about keeping in touch than truly connecting.

At the same time, the changing social life in Singapore shows that more people are moving away from crowded, predictable routines and choosing quieter, more intentional ways to spend time together.

This reflects something deeper. People are not necessarily looking for more activities. They are looking for better experiences.

Still, even with these changes, it’s possible to be surrounded by people and feel a sense of distance.

Constant Mental Load and Pressure

Even outside of daily tasks, there’s often a constant mental load in the background.

Things like financial commitments, housing, career planning, and future goals can take up a lot of headspace. There’s always something to think about, something to prepare for, or something to improve.

That ongoing pressure makes it harder to relax and enjoy the present moment.

When your mind is always focused on what’s next, it’s easy to overlook what’s already there.

What Fulfilment Actually Looks Like

Fulfilment is not something that can be defined the same way for everyone.

For some, it comes from meaningful relationships. For others, it’s about personal growth, creative expression, or simply having time to enjoy everyday life.

It’s often found in smaller, quieter moments rather than big achievements.

  • having a genuine conversation
  • enjoying a simple routine
  • spending time doing something you care about
  • feeling present in your day

Spending time in nature is also one of the simplest ways to reset and slow down, and there are some of the best nature parks to visit in Singapore when you need a quieter change of pace.

These moments may not look impressive from the outside, but they can make a real difference in how life feels.

Small Ways to Feel More Fulfilled

You don’t need to make big changes to start feeling more fulfilled. Small adjustments can already shift how your day feels.

  • Set clearer boundaries with work
Give yourself space to switch off, even for short periods
  • Make time for something you enjoy
Even 20–30 minutes can be enough
  • Slow down certain parts of your day
Not everything has to be optimised for speed
  • Spend time offline
    Create moments without constant notifications
  • Focus on meaningful connections
    Prioritise quality over frequency
  • Reflect on what matters to you
Not just what is expected, but what actually feels right

If you are not sure where to begin, exploring quiet things to do in Singapore when you need a break can be a simple way to step out of the usual routine and make space for calmer moments.

These are small shifts, but they can help bring more balance into a busy routine.

Being busy can feel productive, and sometimes even necessary. But fulfilment doesn’t come from being busy alone. It comes from how you experience your time, not just how you fill it.

Sometimes, it’s not about doing more. It’s about noticing what already matters.

5 Early Signs of Hearing Loss You Shouldn’t Ignore

Your hearing is something you rarely think about until it begins to feel different. At first, the change may be subtle—conversations seem slightly less clear or certain, and everyday sounds don’t stand out the way they used to. These shifts can happen for a variety of reasons, including prolonged exposure to loud environments, infections, ageing, or even temporary issues such as earwax buildup. Regardless of the cause, the early stages of hearing loss often unfold gradually, making them easy to dismiss.

What makes early hearing changes particularly difficult to recognise is that they do not always involve immediate deafness. Instead, they tend to affect how the person processes sound—how clearly you understand speech, how quickly you respond to verbal prompts, or how well you can focus on one voice among many. It is also common for these signs to be mistaken for distraction, fatigue, age, or simple miscommunication. In many cases, it may be someone close to you who notices that something has shifted before you fully register it yourself.

It’s best to pay attention to these early patterns, whether you notice them in your own hearing or observe them in someone else, so you can respond before they begin to interfere more significantly with communication and daily life. The support of an ENT specialist Mount Elizabeth Orchard patients recommend is also instrumental in preserving your hearing for as long as possible. To that end, here are several early indicators of hearing loss that are worth taking seriously:

1. Conversations Start to Sound Less Clear

You may find that even in quiet settings, speech does not come through as cleanly as it once did. Words can seem slightly blurred or garbled, making it harder to catch certain sounds, especially those that carry much of the meaning in conversation.

At times, this change becomes more noticeable through repeated misunderstandings. A child might respond to a question in a way that does not quite match what was asked, or a familiar voice may not immediately register with the same clarity as before. In younger individuals, it can appear as reduced engagement during verbal interactions; in adults, it may simply feel as though people are speaking less distinctly. These shifts are often linked to difficulty picking up higher-frequency sounds, which help speech come across clearly.

2. Responses to Sound Become Delayed or Inconsistent

A pattern may begin to emerge where responses to sound feel slightly out of sync. You might notice that it takes an extra moment to react when someone calls your name, or that instructions need to be repeated before they fully register. In some cases, this delay is subtle enough that it’s easy to attribute it to distraction rather than a change in hearing.

From an outside perspective, this can appear as someone being unresponsive, even when they are paying attention. A caregiver, for instance, might notice that a baby does not turn toward familiar voices or react to sudden noises as expected. In other situations, a person may respond selectively, catching some sounds while missing others entirely.

3. Background Noise Makes It Harder to Follow Speech

When your hearing is impaired, busy environments can start to feel more challenging than they used to, especially when multiple sounds compete for attention. A conversation in a restaurant or at a gathering may require more effort to follow, even when the speaker is nearby. Instead of blending naturally into the background, surrounding noise can begin to interfere with your ability to focus on what others are saying.

The difficulty here is not always about how loud the environment is, but often has more to do with your capacity to distinguish speech from other sounds. You might notice yourself concentrating more intensely just to keep up or relying on context to fill in parts of the conversation you did not clearly hear. This can also be something you observe from watching others in shared spaces, such as a child struggling to follow spoken instructions when there is activity around them.

4. Everyday Sounds Go Unnoticed More Often

Familiar sounds that once stood out can begin to fade into the background. You might miss a phone notification, overlook the sound of a door opening, or fail to notice an appliance signalling that it has finished its cycle. From an observational standpoint, this can also appear as someone not reacting to sounds that would normally draw attention. A child may not respond to a toy that produces noise, or the sound of a doorbell may go unnoticed, even when it is clearly audible to others. These changes tend to develop gradually, reflecting a reduced sensitivity to certain frequencies rather than a complete loss of hearing.

5. Ear Discomfort or Unusual Sensations Accompany Changes in Hearing

Physical sensations can sometimes accompany shifts in how a person experiences sound. You may notice a feeling of pressure, mild discomfort, irritation, or even pain in the ears that does not have an obvious cause. These sensations may only be temporary in some cases, but when they persist alongside changes in hearing, they may warrant closer attention.

Observable behaviours can also provide clues, particularly in those who cannot easily describe what they are feeling. In children, repeated ear pulling or restlessness may suggest underlying discomfort. For others, a ringing or buzzing sensation, often associated with tinnitus, can become more noticeable in quiet moments. While these symptoms do not always indicate long-term hearing loss, they can point to conditions that affect how a person perceives sound and thus should not be ignored.

In some cases, structural concerns related to the outer ear may also contribute to ongoing discomfort or sensitivity. When these issues are identified, a specialist may recommend further evaluation or corrective procedures such as otoplasty (ear surgery).

Simply becoming more observant, whether of your own habits or of how someone close to you responds to sound, can do a lot to help you catch hearing problems. Subtle changes are easy to overlook, especially when they do not seem disruptive at first. Paying attention to those moments can help support clearer communication and greater comfort in everyday interactions.

What Is an AI Photo Booth?

An AI photo booth is a modern version of a traditional photo booth that uses artificial intelligence to transform photos into creative, stylised images.

Instead of printing a simple picture, the system captures a photo and enhances it with AI-generated effects within seconds.

  • A photo is taken at the booth
  • AI processes and transforms the image
  • A stylised version is generated
  • Guests can instantly download or print the result

Key differences from traditional booths:

  • More creative outputs
  • Higher customisation
  • Built for social sharing
  • More engaging experience

How to Use an AI Photo Booth

Using an AI photo booth is usually quick and straightforward, even for first-time users. The process is designed to be simple so guests can enjoy the experience without needing any technical knowledge.

In most setups, guests will start by selecting a style or prompt on a touchscreen. This could be anything from a cinematic portrait to an anime-inspired look, depending on what the provider offers.

  • Select a style or AI prompt
  • Take a photo at the booth
  • Wait a few seconds for AI processing
  • Download or print your photo instantly

Once the style is selected, the photo is taken using the booth’s camera. The AI then processes the image and generates a stylised version within a few seconds.

After that, guests can instantly receive their photos through a QR code, email, or other sharing options. Some setups also offer printed copies on the spot, making it easy to keep a physical memento of the experience.

The entire process usually takes less than a minute, which allows more guests to participate while keeping the flow of the event smooth.

Popular Features of AI Photo Booths

AI photo booths come with a range of features that go beyond simple photography. These are some of the most common ones you’ll find, and they’re often what make the experience more engaging for guests.

AI style transformations
This is the core feature. Instead of a normal photo, the system uses AI to transform images into different styles such as anime, cinematic portraits, fantasy themes, or even professional headshots. It adds a creative layer that makes each photo feel unique.

Custom backgrounds
AI can generate backgrounds instantly, placing guests in different scenes without the need for a physical backdrop. Whether it’s a luxury setting, travel destination, or themed event concept, the background can be matched to your event style.

Instant sharing via QR or email
Once the photo is generated, guests can download it immediately using a QR code or receive it via email. This makes it easy for them to save and share their photos on social media right away.

Branded overlays
For corporate events and marketing campaigns, branding can be added directly onto the photos. This includes logos, event names, hashtags, or custom frames, helping to increase visibility and engagement.

Print and digital options
Many providers offer both physical prints and digital copies. Guests can take home a printed photo as a keepsake while also having a digital version for sharing online.

AI Photo Booth vs Traditional Photo Booth

If you’re deciding between a traditional photo booth and an AI photo booth, the main difference comes down to the overall experience. While both allow guests to take photos, AI photo booths offer a more interactive and creative approach that goes beyond standard prints.

Feature AI Photo Booth Traditional Photo Booth
Creativity Highly creative with AI-generated styles Limited to standard photo formats
Customisation Extensive (themes, prompts, backgrounds) Basic templates and props
Social Sharing Instant via QR, email, or digital download Limited or requires manual sharing
Guest Experience Interactive and engaging Simple and familiar
Branding Potential High (custom overlays, campaigns, themes) Limited branding options
Price Higher Lower

While traditional photo booths remain a reliable option, AI photo booths offer a more engaging, modern experience. If you’re looking to create something memorable and shareable for your event, the added features and creativity can make a noticeable difference.

How Much Does AI Photo Booth Rental Cost in Singapore?

Pricing for AI photo booth rental in Singapore typically starts from around $900 to $1,000 for a basic 2-hour setup, and can go higher depending on the features and level of customisation.

For more advanced setups with customised AI prompts, branded overlays, and unlimited prints, prices can range from $1,200 to $2,000 or more, especially for corporate events or large-scale activations.

A few key factors that affect pricing include the duration of the rental, the number of prints, the type of AI styles offered, and whether custom branding or prompts are required.

While AI photo booths tend to cost more than traditional options, they offer a more interactive and shareable experience, which can make a noticeable difference at events where guest engagement is important.

Who Should Rent an AI Photo Booth?

Tips for Choosing the Right AI Photo Booth

When choosing an AI photo booth, it’s worth taking a bit of time to understand what each provider offers. Start by checking the range of AI styles available, as this will directly affect how creative and engaging the final photos look. You should also confirm how guests will receive their images, whether through QR codes, email, or other sharing methods, to ensure the process is smooth during the event.

It’s also a good idea to review sample outputs from past events, as this gives you a clearer idea of the quality you can expect. Lastly, make sure you understand the setup requirements, including space, power, and setup time, so everything runs smoothly on the day without any last-minute issues.

Right Size, Right Job: When a 14Ft Lorry Is Best for Your Needs in Singapore

For jobs that require moving bulky items or larger loads, a lorry is the perfect vehicle to keep everything organised and manageable. Lorries are designed to handle heavier cargo and provide stable transport, making tasks like moving furniture, delivering goods, and clearing out spaces easier to carry out.

There are different lorry sizes available in Singapore, with a 14ft lorry being one option. This medium-sized commercial vehicle has the power, space, and flexibility to support a variety of transport needs, including the following:

1) Moving Into or Out of a Small to Medium-Sized Dwelling

A move within Singapore rarely involves placing items in just a few boxes. Furniture, appliances, and personal belongings often add up quickly, especially in small to medium-sized HDB homes. Space becomes a key concern, as everything needs to be transported safely without multiple trips that take up time and effort.

In this situation, a 14ft lorry offers a balanced solution. It provides enough room to carry essential household items in a single load while remaining manageable on residential roads and in tight parking areas. This makes the moving process more efficient, particularly when working within lift access schedules or limited time slots. With the right vehicle size, your entire move will feel more streamlined from start to finish.

2) Office Relocation for Small Teams

An office move can quickly become complicated when everyday operations need to continue with minimal disruption. Furniture, equipment, and files all need to be transferred in a way that keeps everything intact and easy to set up again.

A 14ft lorry provides enough space to accommodate these items in a single, well-organised load. Desks, chairs, and office equipment can be secured, helping prevent damage during transport. At the same time, the vehicle remains practical for navigating commercial areas where access points and parking spaces can be limited. This allows the move to proceed more controlled, making it easier for your team to get back to work without unnecessary delays.

3) Moving Equipment for Small Businesses

Many small businesses depend on tools and equipment that aren’t easy to move. Machines, workbenches, and supplies can be bulky, unevenly shaped, and fragile, making them difficult to load and transport without adequate space and support. Thus, careful handling is essential when your small business is relocating or setting up a new workspace.

This is where a 14ft lorry becomes a practical and reliable option. The vehicle offers sufficient capacity to carry large, irregularly shaped items without forcing them into tight or unstable arrangements. This means equipment can be positioned securely, reducing the risk of damage during transit. What’s more, the vehicle remains manageable on local roads and within industrial areas where space may be limited, allowing you to move essential assets with greater ease.

4) Construction Material Transport

Construction work often runs on tight timelines, and delays in material delivery can slow everything down. However, with supplies often arriving in batches, each delivery needs to be handled efficiently to maintain steady on-site progress.

Having the right vehicle size can determine how smoothly materials are delivered and managed. A 14ft lorry, for example, supports this workflow by allowing multiple materials to be transported together. Tiles, fittings, and tools can be loaded in an organised manner, making it easier to unload them in the order needed first. This helps reduce back-and-forth trips, which can be difficult to manage in busy residential areas. As a result, deliveries remain consistent, helping construction work stay on schedule without disruption.

5) Event Set-up and Teardown Logistics

Timing plays a major role in event work. With venues enforcing strict access windows, your team may have only a few hours to bring everything in, set up, and ensure the space is ready before guests arrive. Once the event ends, everything needs to be cleared out just as quickly. And when you’re working within a fixed schedule, there’s no room for delays.

Renting a 14ft lorry can help keep this process on track. Due to its capacity, the vehicle can transport key items, such as staging materials, equipment, and décor, together. This reduces the need to coordinate multiple trips and helps your team manage their time more effectively during set-up.

After the event, the same vehicle can be used to transport all items out in a single, efficient run. That said, the venue can be cleared within the required timeframe, allowing your team to meet handover requirements without unnecessary pressure.

All in all, a 14ft lorry can make a noticeable difference in how easily a transport job is carried out. With its practical balance between capacity and ease of use, a 14ft lorry is a reliable option for a wide range of tasks requiring both space and flexibility.

A lorry rental that aligns with the scale, conditions, and demands of your task helps keep each stage of the process steady and efficient. If you hire the right people, you’ll be able to carry out the job with greater consistency and fewer disruptions, even when you’re working within tight timelines or limited access conditions.

Can You Still Eat Under $5 in Singapore Today?

Yes, but it is becoming less common. Most meals under $5 are found in hawker centres, and even then, prices are gradually increasing. You may notice smaller portions or fewer ingredients compared to previous years.

That said, with the right choices and locations, it is still possible to enjoy a satisfying and affordable meal without exceeding your budget.

Tips to Find Cheap Hawker Meals in Singapore

  • Visit hawker centres instead of food courts or restaurants
  • Go early, as some stalls offer better portions before peak hours
  • Avoid tourist-heavy areas where prices tend to be higher
  • Look for economy rice stalls for the most flexible pricing
  • Check older, long-established stalls, which often keep prices lower
