How Singapore Startups Can Use Apple’s Core ML to Make iOS Apps Smarter
If you take a look at the current set of events, you will see that machine learning is a hot topic in the world of technology. Software developers from all over the globe use this technology to make their apps more efficient. You will see that some of the biggest companies out there have decided to use it for their software to improve it.
These days, it is easier to use machine learning than ever before. The reason why this is the case is that we can use the technology known as Core ML, which is an iOS exclusive. If you are interested in the Android option, you should look toward the ML kit. Depending on your company’s needs and preferences you will choose one of these.
In reality, we can see that machine learning is considered a part of AI, which serves as an umbrella term for a wide array of different technologies. Today, we would like to provide you with a couple of ways Singapore startups can use Apple’s Core ML to develop iOS applications with smart AI features. Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the relevant points.
Data Mining
The first thing we would like to talk about is the benefit of using data mining in app development. They can help with developing non-obvious patterns and connections with a set of data. Data mining has three main stages, data storage, maintenance, and the analysis of the data gathered during the process.
Machine learning provides all the necessary tools to conduct this sort of operation. We can all agree that it is impossible for human beings to conduct such operations and find all the variations needed to predict customer behaviour patterns. Better yet, data mining can be connected to your social media accounts, which helps with gathering all the data.
Gathering all the data is a structured procedure, which means that it consists of a couple of important segments. It will be categorised through gender, age, behaviour, preferences, etc. Having an insight into all of these is what makes data mining an exceptional advantage for app building in this day and age.
Easier to Define App’s Structure
A couple of years ago, the only way for app developers to define the structure of their apps was to reach out to the external server. The same process was needed to enable the AI features. These days, we can see that machine learning offers a completely new angle through running data analysis and fetching the features from a server.
At the same time, we can see that GPUs and CPUs, which are quite faster today, and machine learning chips we can find in mobile phones of new generations, we can reach out for these much easier. Defining the app’s structure is an absolute must since it will help the development process.
Making Ads More Relevant
Every company out there, no matter the size, strives towards making its ads as relevant as possible. You will certainly agree that beating the competition is not easy these days, and you will need to invest as much effort as possible before you can make it possible for the ads to reach out to more people.
The days when apps displayed on your mobile phones didn’t have anything to do with your interests are long gone. Startups can use machine learning to make relevant ads about their products or services. If potential customers are targeted right, then there is no doubt that the number of customers will increase significantly.
Machine Learning has done a lot in the field of making ads way more personalised. Whenever a company is about to release a new product or offer some promotions, this is the right way to go. By reaching out to more potential customers, the chances of increasing the number of those who will become loyal to the brand tend to rise significantly.
Search
The next thing we would like to point out is the importance of Apple’s Core ML when it comes to searching. Machine learning can do a lot with gathering all the information about an individual’s search query, clicks, and screen scrolls. All of these make for exceptional help in situations when the app tries to predict the behaviour of a customer.
Thankfully, it is possible to use the information in front of you to predict these preferences. By doing so, you will get a polished look at how people think, and what can attract them to use your app in the future. Naturally, studying this information is quite challenging and that’s the moment when machine learning comes to the stage.
Machine Learning for E-commerce Apps
Last but not least, we would like to talk about the use of machine learning for e-commerce apps. Without any doubt, this will be one of the cornerstones of the future of e-commerce. It is interesting to know that stores like Amazon have already implemented this method and that they use it for suggesting products to their clients.
For a long time, this approach was largely underestimated, but we can see that it has become a prevalent option for many newly-built e-commerce sites. It monitors the products consumers are clicking on and helps with predicting their future decisions, alongside providing them with recommended products.
Among other examples of sites that use this approach, you will find ones such as IBM, Microsoft, or TensorFlow. A good thing about this option is that you can always add some open-source APIs, which will make the system even more efficient in the future. Accessing these is easier than it has ever been and you should make the most of them.
Signing Off
Singapore startups are among the fastest-growing ones in the world since the country has decided to invest significant amounts of money in these. Here, you can take a look at how local startups can use Apple’s Core ML to make their apps smarter and more efficient. We are certain that you will find this article of ours particularly helpful in this regard.

How Singapore Startups Are Making Android Apps AI Ready with Google’s ML Kit
Android, as an operating system, surfaced back in 2008, and you will see that it has become quite an important driving force for the development of mobile apps. Since then, the number of mobile phones who use this operating system has skyrocketed, and it has become quite a competitor to the predominant iOS operating system.
For those who don’t know, Android is an operating system that integrates machine learning and has been using it for improving various features of mobile devices. There are a lot of features that depend on this technology, like real-time video interaction, on-device speech, and many others. Integrating all of these into the app is challenging and requires a lot of work.
So, you can see that this is quite an important way for companies who work on building android apps to use Google’s ML kit to enhance the abilities of their apps. Today, we want to shine a light on Singaporean startups and how they can make their apps AI-ready by using Google’s ML Kit.
Quick Decisions
You will see that many real-time situations will require apps to optimise with a significant change. Since this is the case, then nobody should be surprised by the fact that modern apps should have the ability to make quick decisions, and provide users with a chance to use them without any sort of challenges in between.
The best example we can remember of the importance of quick decisions is using Google Maps. Think about it, going through all the destinations you are interested in, you will need to go back to the original one to get proper navigation. Of course, it needs to be as smooth as possible for the user to feel comfortable using the app.
These days, users are not that patient, and they tend to stop using an app whenever they feel something is not right with the app they are using. Therefore, startups need to think about these issues before it happens. The easiest way to do that is to use machine learning to make their apps as AI-ready as possible.
Personalization
Using Google’s ML Kit helps with making the app more personalised for the users. Think about it, the users will have a chance to feel much more invested in using a certain app if it makes their presence appreciated. For instance, every user should be able to use the app and get recommendations based on their behaviour.
Using AI in this regard makes it much more convenient for users to not waste their time. Since they will get a recommendation based on their behaviour, they will not need to search manually for everything that seems interesting to them. The app itself will provide them with all the answers to the questions they might have.
With the addition of AI, using an app becomes much more interesting and engagement levels jump through the roof. As a result of that, we can see that it just becomes way more interesting for people to stay loyal to the app. Not to mention that the startup will reap the benefits of being used more which results in higher income.
Improved Security
One of the most important benefits your app can reap as a result of including machine learning is improved security. AI and machine learning together will provide more than enough help in terms of security than any other things out there. For instance, the users will be able to use biometric data.
By doing so, they will make sure that no one will be able to access it besides the users that are allowed to use the app. When you take a look at some reports on this topic, you will see that data protected by biometrics is much safer than those protected solely by passwords, no matter how hard these passwords are.
You will need to be on the outlook on this as a developer. Of course, it is quite complex to make a proper security system for your app. Otherwise, your users will not be protected from a wide array of different issues. They will not feel comfortable enough to leave their data on your app, which is one of the biggest problems you can experience as a developer.
Reduces Development Costs
Last but not least, we want to point out that the combination of AI and machine learning can significantly reduce development costs. Of course, the costs themselves will depend solely on the scope of the project, but it is important to say that it is possible to knock the costs down in the future.
Not only that they will help with reducing the costs, but the reduction of time invested into the project as well. On average, you will see that professionals who work without the assistance of AI will need to invest almost double more working hours into the project. Therefore, it ends in much higher costs down the road.
According to some studies, a basic Al app requires up to three months to be developed. But when you are looking towards an app that requires much more features you need to work on, then you will see that the time range will be significantly higher. So, you can see that AI can come in handy in these moments, which is a good way to knock down the waste of resources.
Summary
Using AI along with machine learning is one of the cornerstones for the future development of apps. We can see that it has made significant improvements to the market, and with the further improvement of AI, it is quite reasonable that it will become even more progressive. So, you will need to think carefully about how to implement these things to work as best as possible.
Singapore startups are among the most advanced ones in the world when it comes to the implementation of modern technologies. So, nobody should be surprised that they can reap all the benefits of using Google’s ML kit to reach all the goals.
5 Best Water Purifier to Buy in Singapore [Shopping Guide]
Everybody needs pure and clean drinking water to stay healthy and fit. And for this reason, we need water purifiers. Most of us know some, if not all, health benefits of water purifiers. Tanker water and groundwater contain contaminations, such as bacteria, pesticides, excessive total dissolved solids, heavy metals, and cysts, which makes the water quality poor. And this has made several people shift towards using this excellent appliance to clean water.
There are several different types and brands of water purifiers available. And it can overwhelm you. Here, this buying guide will help you to decide on the right water purifier for your home.
Factors to Consider When Purchasing a Water Purifier
Although there are a lot of factors to consider before buying a water purifier, the two crucial ones are water quality and purification technology.
Purification Technology
- Ultraviolet (UV) Technology: it is perfect for low TDS water. UV technology uses intense ultraviolet rays to inhibit or kill viruses and bacteria. You can supplement UV with activated carbon filters or pre-filters. It does not remove dissolved impurities.
- Reverse Osmosis (RO): it reduces the hardness of water and removes magnesium and calcium compounds from the water. RO technology also helps in removing chemicals like mercury, arsenic, lead, and fluorides. It uses a tiny semi-permeable membrane to carry out this function. Reverse Osmosis is perfect for a wide range (from 200PPM to 2000 PPM) of dissolved impurities.
- Ultrafiltration (UF) Technology: it is a gravity-based cleanser that does not consume electricity. It is ideal for cyst removal and low TDS water. UF technology purifiers retain good minerals, and it is advisable to supplement activated carbon filters and sediments.
- Alkaline Technology: it is a pH-based purifier perfect for low TDS water. It removes harmful acids from water, which makes it ideal for areas where water is acidic and tastes sour.
- Electro-absorption Technology (EAT): it has different filters for removing different degrees of impurities. Electro-adsorption (EAT) removes silica, dirt, dust, and suspended particles. It also eliminates bacteria, cysts, ions, and germs. After that, it removes lethal chemicals like pesticides, arsenic, lead, and chlorine. EAT uses 5 step process and is ideal for TDS under 500 PPM.
Best Type of Water Purifier According to TDS of Water
Once you know the TDS of your water, you can select the water purifier as per your TDS.
| TDS | The recommended type of water purifier |
| 50PPM- 200PPM | Ultraviolet (UV), Ultrafiltration (UF), UV+UF |
| 200PPM- 500PPM | Reverse Osmosis, Ultraviolet + Reverse Osmosis |
| Above 1000PPM | Reverse Osmosis, Ultraviolet + Reverse Osmosis |
Key Features
- Display: it delivers information regarding purifier status, water level, and much more.
- Storage Tank: as the name suggests, it stores purified water. A large storage tank is necessary for the areas with electricity problems. But make sure that that tank material is non-toxic and food-grade. Steel tanks are available, which are an ideal choice.
- Membranes and Filters: removes suspended particles and minute soil impurities. Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes eliminate biological impurities, heavy metals, and dissolved salts. The Ultraviolet (UV) filters inactivate parasites, bacteria, and viruses.
- TDS Controller: generally used in Reverse Osmosis (RO) purifiers and maintain a healthy level of essential minerals. It also controls output TDS levels.
- Sediment Pre-Filter: eliminates fine and coarse particles like mud, dust, and dirt. Sediment Pre-filters reduce the maintenance cost and enhance the life of Ultrafiltration/Reverse Osmosis membranes. You can also add it as an attachment to an existing water purifier.
- Activated Carbon Filter: it removes foul odor and taste-causing organic compounds from the water. An activated carbon filter also eliminates organic impurities and chlorine. Other uses include taste enhancement and final purification.
In this list, we have picked the 5 best water purifiers to buy in Singapore [2025 review] to make your work easier.
