What do we call the future of our land? The interplay of soil, systems and communities? In this pair of workshops, we delve into the intricacies of land use in Singapore and explore how the choices we make collectively shape our shared future.

Exploring Systems and Futures Part  I & II is part of the Living Soil Series by T:>Works’ CoThink Lab. It invites participants to examine how we relate to our land and to imagine future possibilities through two complementary sessions:

Part I – Causal Layered Analysis: How do we relate to land? Participants learn about Causal Layered Analysis (CLA), a foresight tool that examines headline stories, policies, narratives and deep metaphors. Through discussions, the workshop invites us to unpack the forces shaping Singapore’s urban landscape and our relationship to the land, and to collectively envision preferred futures

Part II –Learning Through Simulation: Harvest. An immersive simulation inspired by systems thinking and sustainability, this session engages participants in a resource‑management game. Through hands‑on play, you’ll experience how individual choices influence shared resources. Guided reflection after the game helps connect the insights to personal, organisational, and societal issues

SMU celebrates 25 years of making meaningful impact! We are kicking off the year-long celebration with the biggest SMU Patron’s Day party!

Ernest Goh | ‘Bleached Bones: Last Words of the Dead Spoken by a Dying Sea’

‘Bleached Bones’ is a visual catalogue of photographic prints by artist and photographer Ernest Goh. In this exhibition curated by Shireen Marican, bleached corals capture timeless, poignant last words of the departed.

Bleaching is a phenomenon when corals turn completely white after algae in their tissues are expelled when their waters are too warm — nature’s lasting reminder that climatic changes continue to influence ecological systems.

Ernest’s explorations across the shores of Nikoi Island in Indonesia led to a discovery of the unique formations of these bleached corals. In these, he finds a visual parallel to the alphabet system which he draws upon to contemplate lessons of life and living from death poems and last words.

As Singapore commemorates its 60th birthday, Chingay 2025 is set to be a spectacular celebration of our nation’s unity and shared journey. With over 4,000 performers and a total of 23 floats, the 2025 parade brings together communities and families through the universal language of food. Parade Highlights:  

• Culinary Extravaganza: Be transported to a culinary wonderland with hosts Durian King and Queen Mangosteen with a sensory feast of 23 food-inspired floats and stunning costumes worn by 4,000 performers from 150 organisations creating an electrifying atmosphere of enthusiasm and dynamism. 

• SG60 Special: Witness a roaring showcase of 60 lion dancers and multi-ethnic drummers embodying the energy and spirit of Singapore. There will also be 200 performers portraying 20 different but familiar national food icons! 

• All-New Immersive Layout: In line with the “shared table” theme, Chingay 2025 will captivate audiences with a 360-degree parade layout and a four-level stage for performers, while the PAssionArt Street, located at the event entrance, will enhance community engagement.
