‘Aequilibrium II’ Tan Sock Fong
Aequilibrium is Latin for a level position, equilibrium, balance. It also suggests equivalence, or reciprocity. Tan Sock Fong’s Aequilibrium II, the current sequel to her 2017 first iteration, is a development of these values, enlarging the schema of how glass and stone can level each other off. In doing so she plays glass against glass, glass against stone, and stone against stone.
The exhibition is a first for Blueprint Art Space which aims to encourage enjoyable experiences with art and further artistic dialogues.
Free admission to exhibition and programmes.

Wet Plate Portraits with Robert Burke Raby
As part of our exhibition Vintage Pop: Part 1, we are organizing Wet Plate Portrait sessions with Robert Burke Raby on two Fridays in the month of April!
Wet plate collodion (or sometimes known as tintype when poured onto a sheet of black anodized aluminium) is an early photographic process that was invented in 1851. Unlike the instant gratification you get from its digital counterpart today, analogue photography like wet plate collodion takes approximately 15 minutes from start to finish as longer exposure times and complex developing methods are required before results could be seen.
Each monochromatic image that is rendered is unique and one-of-a-kind. Using mainly silver, collodion, light and an extra serving of alchemy, your image will be immortalized onto a 4 x 5-inch (10.16 x 12.7 cm) metal plate which will last around 100-200 years.
This is not merely a photoshoot as you will be invited to join in this interactive process to watch your image reveal itself in the fixing bath and our photographer will also take you through a short history on early photography as well.
See you all for the shoot:)

Vintage Pop
White Space Art Asia proudly presents Vintage Pop, a show that examines the central tenets of the Pop art movement and how it continues to be relevant and resonate with a new generation of artists decades after its introduction. In this dialogue, seriality, repetition, and the eye-hungry references to mainstream popular culture and mass media are visible proofs that the concept of Pop is still pertinent in today’s contemporary art.
Vintage Pop features five contemporary artists stretching across different geographical, cultural, and ideological backgrounds. Five artists from five vastly different countries and life experiences (England, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Singapore) will work with popular imageries and iconographies dating back to the 1960s. Alluding to iconic films, cartoons, videogames and pop music, these artists distort the still deeply entrenched demarcation between “authentic” and “commercial” culture.
Popular culture is ubiquitous but not universal. Its shape and form are defined by the prevailing sentiments and norms of a society. While each of these five artists brings a different postmodern interpretation of Pop art, the shared beliefs of the democratization of art and the use of easily identifiable iconography rooted in vintage pop weaves a global unifying language across time and geographies.
Join us as we celebrate these artists and their inimitable interpretations of Pop art in the contemporary context.
Opening Vernissage: 3 April 2021, Saturday 4pm-8pm
Exhibition Period: 3 April 2021 to 15 May 2021, Open 10am – 7pm daily
Venue: 1H Yong Siak Street, Tiong Bahru Estate, Singapore 168641
